What HR thinks it means:
Software or hardware installed and running on the premises of the organization.
What it actually means:
"That dusty server rack in the closet that nobody has the password to anymore."
Use it in a meeting:
"We can't update the on-prem server because it's running a critical legacy app on Windows Server 2003 and we are terrified to touch it."
